SoccerRockz Three Lions Cup
On Saturday 23rd June 2018 we hosted our biggest ever junior football tournament; the SoccerRockz Three Lions Cup.
Cryfield Sports Pavilion within the University of Warwick campus was the venue and needed no introduction. 11 pitches all freshly cut and in immaculate condition, ready to welcome players from ages U6 through to U9.
88 teams from across the Midlands and even as far as London joined us for what was sure to be a fantastic day of football. The weather forecast was perfect, a morning filled with sunshine and a few afternoon clouds to provide some welcome shade.

We began with the U6 and U8 teams who started to arrive from 8am full of excitement and eager to play some football. There were some pretty impressive haircuts on display too which we are sure even the World Cup players would have been happy with!
The atmosphere was building and the excitement increasing by the minute. The ethos behind the tournament was simple and is something we’ve promoted many times here at SoccerRockz; provide an event where everybody involved gets to play the same amount of football whilst keeping the format competitive. To do this our 88 teams were ultimately competing for no fewer than 22 Cups across the 4 age groups.
The football on display throughout the morning was incredible, both individually and collectively players showcased their talents to a venue filled with proud parents, friends and family members.

The afternoon began at 2pm as we welcomed the second part of our 88 teams from ages U7 and U9. The sun continued to shine and we were now in full swing. The fixtures and schedules were handed to the managers and made very impressive reading. We always knew this would be an exceptional event when the teams entered included professional clubs such as Peterborough, Birmingham, Notts Forest & Walsall along with some of the most highly regarded local teams and coaching providers.
The afternoon produced some of the most entertaining and exciting football we ever have seen at any football tournament, the players were in their element and proving exactly why they are performing at the highest levels of junior football.

The group stages were action packed and filled with closely fought matches. There was an abundance of talent on display and individual moments of brilliance seemed to be happening on every pitch.
As the tournament progressed towards the latter stages and the medals & trophies were in sight, the day produced some magical moments including goalkeepers becoming hero's during nail biting penalty shoot outs. A special mention must go to both A Star Ballerz U8’s and Nottingham Forrest Academy U8’s who played out an electric U9 final!!
