SoccerRockz Bazooka Cup 2017

12 Dec 2017

On Sunday 3rd December 2017, in association with worldwide brand Bazooka Goal, we hosted our annual indoor winter football festival – the SoccerRockz Bazooka Cup 2017!

Almost 30 teams from across the Midlands joined us for another action packed day of fun and football.  The format of the day was a mixture of 3v3 and 6v6 matches, played across 4 small Bazooka netted pitches and a single larger 6v6 pitch, where the football would be fast & furious with goals scored in abundance.

The morning began with the U6 teams who arrived full of excitement and eager to get underway.  The U6’s played in a non-competitive round robin, providing the perfect opportunity for both players and managers to put into practice all their hard work so far this season.  The experience of the teams ranged, from having played lots of matches to some enjoying their first football event of this kind.

The atmosphere was electric, there were goals flying in on all 5 pitches. Parents, players & managers all smiling and enjoying watching the children have the time of their lives.  Feedback on the mornings event was overwhelmingly positive and every child left with a medal to remember what was a fantastic morning of football.

At 1:30pm we then welcomed the arrival of 16 x U7 teams who joined us for our competitive trophy tournament.  There were 4 trophies up for grabs; The Bazooka World Cup, Copa America, Champions League & Premier League.  Teams were placed into 4 groups of 4 with every team progressing from the group stages into a semi-final followed by either a play-off or final.

The football was again fast and furious!  Teams were displaying a variety of tactics, from a full guns blazing attack approach to a more defensive counter attacking style.  Players were using skill & flair to outwit opponents whilst others mustered up pure strength & determination to gain the slightest advantage.

Due to the competitive nature of the event and teams being very closely matched, there were moments of tense, nail biting action. Penalty shoot outs, last minute goals and dramatic goal line clearances - even the Bazooka World Cup Final was decided in dramatic circumstances with a sudden death penalty shoot out after what was an entertaining & exciting last game of the day!

Congratulation to the 4 winners of the tournament, and a huge well done to everyone who joined us for what was another thrilling SoccerRockz winter event:

World Cup – Football First Academy

Copa America – Santos Panthers

Champions League - Coventry Sphinx FC

Premier League – Coventry Copeswood

Finally, two special thank yous from the day itself. Firstly to Bazooka Goal for very kindly allowing us to use their new netted pitch system for the day – hopefully the first of many occasions and the start of a longstanding relationship. The second to our most generous sponsor for the day, local small business Kieran Doran Rendering, who provided medals & trophies to well over 200 children who attended throughout the day.

Next stop – our Blues Cup on 23rd December!!!
